Brief History
Mason, Ohio was founded in 1815 as the Village of Palmyra by Major William Mason, a Revolutionary War veteran. Twenty years later the name was changed to Mason in his honor. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries Mason has steadily grown into a major city in southwestern Ohio. The history of Mason is indeed interesting. Mason Historical Society
