The Mason Historical Society enjoys celebrating history and culture through programs, annual Ice Cream Socials, Cemetery Walks, and much more. Take a look at the dates below to find what interests you!
We are excited to display our collection of paintings and sketches containing various Mason buildings, many of which have been razed over the years. Viewing is currently in our West Wing museum edition.
The featured artists are Dee Wilt and Barb Pask (both members of our Society), Jeanne Harpen, Cheryl Gates, Joy Melampy, Ted Rusman, Nan C, Lenore Stone, Freida Shorr, Gerry Kunze, Jody Ball, Ada Baysore, Lois Baysore and Deirdre Dyson, a Loveland, Ohio artist.
Also on display are excellent wooden reproductions of Mason buildings loaned from Karen Gilbert-Bodenbender, some of which are in the artwork collection as well. Karen’s father Bill Gilbert, a lifetime Mason resident now deceased, cut the buildings out of wood. Mason artist Jeanne Harpen then painted the buildings to look the same as they had been in years past. The buildings were used by Bill when his model train set was on display. Jeanne and Bill recreated these buildings as if you "stepped back in time".
